The economic area of Public Economics deals with the interaction between the economy and the government. The research in this field gives answers to the questions which state interventions into the market economy are useful or harmful and how the general government can perform its economic tasks efficiently. Theoretical and empirical research as well as policy advising are a combined responsibility at our chair. The main topics are allocation theory, fiscal policy, sozial policy and fiscal federalism. Other research interests are family policy and the economics of education.
