Das Programm ist eine gemeinsame Initiative des Instituts für Volkswirtschaftslehre und des Max-Planck-Instituts für demografische Forschung. Es verfolgt das Ziel, den internationalen wissenschaftlichen Austausch zwischen Ökonomen und Demographen in Rostock zu fördern. Zu diesem Zweck werden Wissenschaftler nach Rostock eingeladen, die ökonomische Aspekte des demographischen Wandels erforschen. Mit einem Forschungsschwerpunkt zum Demographischen Wandel und den engen Verknüpfungen zum Max-Planck Institut kann den Gästen ein anregendes Umfeld für ihre Forschung geboten werden. Während ihres Aufenthalts sind Vorträge oder kleinere Vorlesungsreihen der Forscher geplant. Konferenzen, Workshops und Seminare sollen das Programm ergänzen. Wissenschaftler, Doktoranden und Studenten in Rostock sollen so Gelegenheit bekommen, den neuesten Stand der Forschung kennenzulernen, mit den Experten ins Gespräch zu kommen und gemeinsame Forschungsprojekte anzustoßen.
