REVIEW: Transnational Meeting at the University of Rostock - Project “Posting of Workers” (April 2016)

On behalf of Prof. Dr. Andreas Diettrich the Chair of Business, Economics and Entrepreneurship Education hosted a transnational meeting which took place at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences on April 12th 2016. The joint visit took up the intensive discussion and know-how exchange of the project meeting in November 2015 which was organised in Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Zagreb (Croatia).

Again the project consortium aimed to enhance the transnational network and cooperation concerning the matter of Posted Workers in Europe based on legal, institutional and social aspects.

In the course of the meeting the Chair tried to introduce relevant German institutions and their work in the context of posting of workers. Under this objective, Prof. Dr. Diettrich (Director of the Chair), Ms. Doris Wegener (Scientific Researcher) and Philipp Rose (Research Assistant) were more than pleased to welcome Ramona Haase (Federal Employment Agency / International Placement Services) and Rüdiger Winter (Arbeit und Leben Hamburg e.V. / Servicestelle Arbeitnehmerfreizügigkeit) as national experts at the transnational meeting.

Ramona Haase not only introduced the Federal Employment Agency and its International Placement Service, but also highlighted backgrounds of the German labour market. Through an analysing view on the skill shortages clustered by the German federal states, the project consortium had the chance to get a closer view on regional needs, specifications and labour-trends in Germany.

Rüdiger Winter, as a representative of the Service Agency for EU-Migrant-Workers from Hamburg, shared initial experiences of his organisation made in daily advisory work and presented opportunities for achieving an improvement in employment conditions for mobile workers in Germany. In consideration of the vulnerability of mobile workers he pointed out the specific need of institutions like the Service Agency for Migrant-Workers for the support and protection of the individuals.

The transnational workshop also gave the chance to the participants to discuss further research and possible project activities of the involved project partners.

The conference day provided a high added and innovated value to the project “Posting of Workers: Sharing experiences, Promoting Best Practices and Improving Access to Information” which is co-financed by the European Commission in the frame of the EU Programme for Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) and by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities of the Republic of Slovenia. In the evening a guided tour through the archive of the University of Rostock brought the both trademarks of our alma mater together - Traditio et Innovatio.
